Seasoned listeners and those new to symphonic music will be equally entertained by the Symphony in 60 Series. Enjoy a casual and fun cocktail hour before the 60-minute concert, introductions to the music by the conductor, and a chance to make new friends. Commissioning the Brightest Composers
Continuing our commitment to the living art form, the 2022/23 Season features the Jacksonville Symphony commission of a new work by Sean Shepherd who the New York Times has called "an exciting composer of a new American generation." Shepherd’s (b.1979) education includes degrees in composition and bassoon performance from Indiana University, a master’s degree from The Juilliard School, and doctoral work at Cornell University with Roberto Sierra and Steven Stucky.
