Fanfare! An Opening Night Celebration

Evening gowns and tuxedo jackets? A walk down the red carpet and a dazzling champagne toast? Although it may sound like the Oscars, the Jacksonville Symphony is bringing the glamour of Hollywood to you! Come celebrate the beginning of another spectacular season with Courtney Lewis and the Jacksonville Symphony with a resounding Fanfare on Saturday, September 16th.

Joining Courtney on stage will be guest artist and virtuosic violinist, Charlie Siem. Born to a Norwegian father and British mother, Siem says in an interview with South China Morning Post “I picked up the violin when I was three and never looked back.” Siem has spent most of his life in Britain performing with some of the world’s most well-known orchestras, including both the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Although a classical musician of the younger generation, Siem has worked to revive the age-old tradition of composing virtuosic variations of popular themes. These have included works by jazz-pop artist Jamie Cullum, Bryan Adams, and famous rock band, The Who. Siem has paired with iconic fashion brands such as Armani, Chanel and Hugo Boss to create violin-inspired collaborations aimed to introduce classical music to a wider audience.  Pairing his love of classical music with an enjoyment of hip-hop and a passion for reading, Siem brings his belief that “music is what makes us human” to life with his vibrant personality and musicianship.

Join Courtney Lewis, Charlie Siem, and the Jacksonville Symphony for this unforgettable, one-night, red-carpet event. Gentlemen grab your bow-ties and ladies your cocktail dresses and raise your glasses with the Jacksonville Symphony as we present a grand Fanfare to welcome the 2017-2018 season!
