A sought-after jazz trumpeter throughout the Southeast, David Champagne has shared the stage with legendary trumpet artists Arturo Sandoval and Jon Faddis, and recently toured Poland with the ICX Jazz Ensemble featuring saxophonist Gregory Tardy. He has appeared as a featured soloist at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, and the Jacksonville Jazz Festival.

Champagne earned second place in the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition and has received additional recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts, DownBeat, and the International Trumpet Guild.

A product of Jacksonville’s rich jazz heritage, Champagne is a graduate of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in jazz studies from University of North Florida. He has served on the faculties of University of Mobile and Jacksonville University.

His debut album, Come Before Winter, featuring the “Gospel Liturgy Suite,” is set for release in May 2026.

David lives in Jacksonville with his wife, Jody, and their four children.
