Executive Assistant

The Executive Assistant (EA) provides executive support in a one-on-one working relationship with the CEO and with the Music Director by serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies. The Executive Assistant will also work closely with the senior management team/department heads; organize executive outreach and external relation efforts with community leaders, and oversee special projects. The EA also serves as a liaison with the Board of Directors, coordinating key meetings. The EA must possess the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and be able to work under pressure at times to address a wide variety of issues/activities and confidential matters with extreme discretion. To be successful the EA must be creative and enjoy working within a highly entrepreneurial organization that is mission and results driven as well as community oriented.

Major Gifts Officer

The Jacksonville Symphony Advancement Department raises funds through donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, the public sector, and special events to support artistic and educational programming and general operating expenses. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for expanding the base of major gift donors, primarily from individuals, on a local and regional level. The Major Gifts Officer will work to increase support by cultivating and stewarding effective relationships by maintaining an active fundraising schedule that includes strategic visits, and ongoing cultivation and solicitation. They will maintain a portfolio of appropriate size including current and potential donors with five to six-figure plus capacity excluding Board and honorary Board members. In addition, they will maintain an active schedule of cultivation and solicitation visits securing gifts averaging $10,000 and more. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, data driven portfolio management, and the demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, well-organized and possess a sales mentality. Knowledge of customer relationship databases and appreciation for music is a plus.

Vice President & General Manager

The Vice President & General Manager (GM) is a member of the senior leadership team and has overall responsibility for the management of orchestra operations including creation of an annual orchestra handbook, concert production, budgeting for orchestra costs, touring, recording, and labor relations. This position also schedules all rehearsals, manages the relationship with the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts/Jacoby Symphony Hall, manages and schedules all ensemble performances, manages electronic media projects, supervises the annual production of “The Nutcracker” and manages the lease for the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts.

Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

The VP/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will provide leadership and strategic direction for the financial affairs of the organization. The CFO is responsible for all aspects of the financial operations of the Jacksonville Symphony by overseeing the Symphony’s financial strategy and operations and ensuring the fiscal integrity of the Symphony, which has a $10 million operating budget, and a $21 million endowment (investments are divided between the Jacksonville Symphony Association and the Jacksonville Symphony Foundation). The CFO supervises a team of four and works collaboratively with the CEO, the senior leadership team, the external investment professionals, and the audit firm. The CFO is the staff liaison to the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee and the Symphony Foundation (Endowment) Board of Directors.

Internships may be available in Artistic Operations, Development, Education & Community Engagement, Marketing, and Public Relations. To some degree we are able to tailor an internship to suit the student’s needs and skill set.
