Please arrive at Jacoby Symphony Hall 60 minutes prior to your scheduled audition time to check-in and obtain a warm-up room.

Enter the building, located at 300 Water Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202 via the Main Entrance on Water Street. Your prompt arrival is greatly appreciated as we will do our best to stay on schedule.

Please note, the Jacksonville Symphony will not be responsible for any travel, hotel, parking or other costs you many incur associated with the audition.

2022-2023 Principal Viola Benefits

Benefits for the 2022-2023 Principal Viola position includes:

  • 40-week season
  • 2022-2023 Weekly Salary: $1,539.48
  • Health Insurance coverage through Florida Blue
  • Dental, Life, Instrument, and Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • Up to 12-week paid maternity/paternity leave
  • Three weeks paid vacation per season
  • Eight personal services, per season, accumulating to 12
  • Seven paid relief services per season
  • 5.65% Pension Contribution to the AFM-EPF


The audition committee reserves the right to dismiss immediately any candidates not meeting the highest artistic standards. The winning candidate will be required to present proof of his/her legal eligibility to work in the United States. If the position is won by a member of the Jacksonville Symphony, runner(s)-up may be offered the resulting opening.


There is metered parking on Pearl Street that takes debit cards. This parking option has a two-hour limit that can be renewed. There is also an open-air parking lot directly across the street from the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts.


Food trucks are set up for lunchtime on Hogan Street (just around the corner from the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts). There are also many other choices within walking distance in Downtown Jacksonville. Bread and Board is highly recommended, which is located on 100 W. Bay Street.
