The Musicians
Patrice Evans (Violin)
Member of the JSO: Since 1989
Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio
Education: Bachelor of Music from Florida State University (full scholarship) and postgraduate work with Kevin Lawrence at Baylor University.
Why the violin? The Cleveland Orchestra performed regularly one block away from where I grew up. I grew up with a deep appreciation of symphonic music.
Performance experience: Assistant Principal Second Violin and Soloist with the Breckenridge Music Festival (Breckenridge, Colorado); Lancaster Festival in Lancaster, Ohio; has performed with the symphonies of Memphis, Savannah and Colorado Springs; was a member of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra before coming to Jacksonville
Other instruments: piano
Family: I have seven nieces and nephews whom I can’t spend enough time with!
Pets: One Sealpoint Siamese cat named Darla
Funniest moment with the JSO: It was a Halloween concert and my stand partner at the time was Katy Wieland—we both dressed up as “Pat” from Saturday Night Live!
Style of music: I like an eclectic mix, especially Louisiana Zydeco.
Hobbies: I enjoy the outdoors, anything to do with the water in particular, saltwater fishing – or as I like to refer to as saltwater “catching”.
