Julian Kaplan (Trumpet)

Hometown: Lincolnton, N.C.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance, University of Kentucky
Performance experience: Principal trumpet of the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. Performed with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Asheville Symphony Orchestra, Lead trumpet with Manhattan Transfer and with Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys. At University of Kentucky, Julian performed with the Symphony Orchestra (principal trumpet and soloist), Wind Ensemble (principal trumpet), Opera Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble.
Studied with: Michael Miller – Cleveland Orchestra, Mark Clodfelter – University of Kentucky and Vincent DiMartino – Centre College
Favorite composers: Richard Strauss, Bruckner, Mahler
Favorite styles of music: Classical, Big Band, Christian and a little Hip-Hop/Rap
Teaching: Each summer, Julian teaches at a Fine Arts Academy in Nashville.
Hobbies: Golf, racquetball and a steady workout routine
