Entering its 65th Year of Musical Excellence and Community Partnership
Since 1949, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra’s commitment to excellence has elevated our civic pride and quality of life. Serving the community both on and off the stage, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra musicians are resident artists who enrich our lives in many ways, from performing in community venues, to teaching and mentoring our youth.
Nearly 80,000 schoolchildren annually experience the musicians' artistry through the Symphony’s comprehensive education programs. Ensemble visits from Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra musicians reach more than 32,000 school children and 3,500 senior citizens. Many also share their skills as coaches for the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra and instructors in the Jump Starts Strings program.
The Orchestra’s superior quality and commitment to Florida composers “offered a timely reminder of how much interesting music-making goes on outside what are traditionally regarded as major music centres,” as reported by the Toronto Star. The Orchestra has performed twice at Carnegie Hall and been broadcast nationally on “Performance Today.”
