Music for Your Eyes - Painted Violins

The 2010-11 “Music for Your Eyes” project of the Jacksonville Symphony Guild featured ten works by local artists, using the violin as their canvas.

Pictured below are the 2010-11 violins, listed by artist and winning owner. Winners were drawn on May 20, 2011.
These beautiful works of art were on display in our lobby throughout the concert season, thanks to the many Guild volunteers who were there nearly every week selling changes to win. The violins were also on display at local galleries and at the Designer Showhouse.
Thank you to all the concertgoers and visitors who purchase drawing tickets for these one-of-a-kind works of art. More than $14,000 was raised to fund the Guild’s Harmony Grants, awarded to Northeast Florida teachers who use music in class projects. Harmony Grants have been awarded for projects and activities such as classroom instruments, violin cases and field trip buses to attend the First Coast Nutcracker. The violins were decorated by area artists who donated their creative energy to this project. We thank them for their unique creativity and inspiration to support classroom music projects in our schools.
