Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra
300 Water St. Suite 200, Jacksonville, FL 32202
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for your interest in the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. We have time to hear 96 candidates for our upcoming Principal/Second Trumpet Audition. We will invite the top 96 candidates based on resumes. The large majority of the prelims will be heard on Sunday, October 10th. We do have some limited availability to hear some prelims on Monday morning October 11th. Those of you who already have jobs and have a Saturday night concert will be given priority for these slots. Please request this in writing when mailing your resume and deposit and we will try to accommodate you. At the very worst we can hear you later on Sunday. Semi Final and Final rounds will be heard on Monday afternoon and evening. The audition could end up going late so please prepare for that in your travel plans. All rounds will be held behind a screen. Only resumes that are mailed with a refundable $25 deposit check will be reviewed.
Audition times will be e mailed approximately two weeks before the audition. We will contact those who the committee determines will NOT make the top 96 candidates at least one month before the audition date by e mail. We will hire both a Principal and a Second trumpet player from the same audition. After we have chosen a principal we will hear other finalists play with that person to determine who the best match is. At this point candidates may withdraw from consideration if they are not interested in Second or vice versa. Our new Second Trumpet player will be expected to play some limited principal as well. Both positions are tenure track. Our Contract does not allow any auto advancing based on resume.
The complete audition repertoire list and Pops Excerpts are linked and available to print below.
