The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra is pleased to unveil an exciting lineup of concerts for 2008-2009 and invites you to share in the excitement.
The Masterworks series returns with all-time favorites, complemented by gems from the treasures of great repertoire. Fantastic guest artists including Sarah Chang, Ingrid Fliter and Markus Groh enhance each concert experience. You’ll hear the great symphonies of Beethoven, Brahms and Mahler, the beloved violin concertos of Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky, Mozart’s Requiem, Rachmaninoff’s Paganini Rhapsody, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet and much more.
Fabulous Pops headliners like Doc Severinsen, Ben Vereen, The Manhattan Transfer, Cirque de la Symphonie, ABBAMANIA and Ladies of Motown will create unforgettable nights of entertainment. We’ll also celebrate the 100th anniversary of legendary bandleader Benny Goodman.
The JSO’s Discovery Series gets “Up Close and Musical” as we feature our own virtuosos. You’ll get to know a variety of composers and works through the stellar musicianship of Charlotte Mabrey, Eric Olson, Jeffrey Peterson, Alexei Romanenko and others – your Jacksonville Symphony musicians.
You’ll also want to reserve your seats for grand opera. This season features Puccini’s exotic and dramatic Turandot. The JSO also brings you fully-staged musical theater with Bernstein’s West Side Story. The musical is going back on New York’s Broadway stage this fall on the heels of its 50th birthday. The Jacksonville Symphony is proud to open its new season with West Side Story in the Moran Theater just prior to its exclusive New York run.
Season tickets are not yet available online. Please call the JSO box office at (904) 354-5547 to inquire about becoming a season subscriber for 2008-09. |
